Loch Muick

Looking out to the Capel Mounth

Starting the descent to Loch Muick

Another route taken from the Ecurie Neeps website. I had been looking forward to doing this one for a while but even the excellent descent back to Loch Muick couldn't make up for what was essentially a lot of pushing.

The initial climb from the car park at Loch Muick over the Capel Mounth was long but generally rideable on a good quality path. However the downhill into Glen Clova was a big disappointment. The rough singletrack proved, after a couple of good crashes, to be just too steep and rocky to ride.

Lunch was taken in the woods just past Moulzie. We knew that the path up from Bachnagairn to the ridge above Loch Muick would be a tough carry but it seemed to go on for ever. Consolation was the views of Lochnagar and Loch Muick and the superb descent back to the car park.
